Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Bid Whist Forever (operated by Skill Builders Institute Inc., “we,” “us”) collects at bidwhistforever.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain: we collect what the game needs to work, and we do not sell your personal information.

1. What We Collect

• Account information: username, email address, and a securely hashed password.
• Game data: match history, statistics, ratings, badges, achievements, and virtual-currency balances and purchases (coins and gems — no real money).
• Social data: friends, group (“Fam”) memberships, invitations, and chat messages you send.
• Guest sessions: temporary session data stored for roughly 24 hours, then automatically removed.
• Technical data: authentication cookies/tokens, IP address and basic device information in server logs, and error telemetry (via Sentry) when something breaks — stack traces may include your user ID but never your password.

2. How We Use It

• To run the game: matchmaking, scores, rewards, shop purchases, and social features.
• To keep the table safe: enforcing fair play, moderating chat, and preventing abuse.
• To fix problems: error reports and logs help us find and repair bugs.
• To contact you about your account — password resets and important service notices. No marketing email without your consent.

3. What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not show third-party advertising.
• We do not use your data for purposes unrelated to running the game.

4. Sharing

Your username, avatar, statistics, badges, and equipped items are visible to other players as part of normal gameplay. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate the Service (hosting on Railway, email delivery via Resend, error monitoring via Sentry), each bound to use it solely to provide their service, and with authorities if the law requires it.

5. Retention and Deletion

• Account data is kept while your account is active.
• You can delete your account anytime from your profile settings, or by emailing us. Deletion removes your currencies, inventory, badges, friendships, and sessions, and permanently anonymizes your name in past games (other players’ history stays intact, attributed to a “Departed Player”).
• Guest session data expires automatically within about a day.
• Server logs and error reports age out on rolling windows.

6. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes; reset tokens are stored hashed and expire within an hour; connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for the failure modes we can foresee.

8. Your Rights

You may access and update your profile in the app, request a copy of your data, or request deletion (in-app or by email). Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law — email us and we will honor them.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will announce it in the app or by email and update the effective date above.
