Signature move: The self-roast — clowns her own misplay before the table can
“NOBODY say nothing — I saw it, I hate it, we're moving on!”
Dani’s strategy for surviving a Houston card table full of uncles was worked out at age nineteen and has never needed revision: get to the joke first. Trump your own partner? Dani’s already out of her chair doing the replay in slow motion, narrating like a sports documentary, before Ty Banks can even inhale. You can’t clown somebody who’s opened for herself.
Underneath the comedy is a player quietly getting better at a suspicious rate. The self-roasts are, functionally, film study — every mistake gets named, performed, and archived in front of witnesses, which means Dani remembers her errors better than anyone at the table. The uncles think they’re laughing at her. They’re attending her lectures.
She keeps a running bit with Tommy Rivers about forming a team called “The Apology Tour” with PJ. The name is a joke. The way all three of them are improving is not.
